Ariane Maciel is a Paraguayan beauty queen and model who has represented her country in numerous international contests. Currently based in Spain, she’s developing several brands as an entrepreneur, exploring her creativity and opportunities for development. She believes that the fashion industry requires resilience and inner strength which can then lead you to new heights

Ariane, you are the winner of Miss International Paraguay ‘22, what did the crown give you?
I have always been a dreamer and ever since I was a little girl I always wanted to become a beauty queen and a model. At the age of 15 I started modeling but had to take a break because my parents were worried I would drop out of school. Later, in 2019, I participated in the Paraguay Summer Queen contest where I won my first crown. In 2020, I participated in Miss International Paraguay and won the Grand Slam crown which allowed me to compete last year in Japan. Moreover, in 2022 I took part in Miss Europe Continental World Pageant that was held in Italy and finished in the Top Ten among 45 candidates. This has been my brief but solid path through the world of beauty pageants.

Tell us about yourself, how did your dream about the fashion world come about?
I have always said that within me lies a small entrepreneur willing to go all the way, with God’s guidance. For several years I dreamed about materializing my ideas into a Fashion project and in 2022, I finally managed to take that first step. I am the Creative Director of the swimsuit brand Miss Bonita, where I give free rein to my muse in the process of designing and creating each piece, supported by a team of professionals who guide me and bring to life everything I have in mind.

What character traits do you need to have to be a model?
Having a well-defined personality and healthy self-esteem is very important in this industry for you will meet people who worship you and others who try to bury you, since beauty lies in the eye of the beholder. But I, like many other women, have suffered from anxiety and other conditions, and with the help of specialists have been able to understand that the most important thing is how you see and feel about yourself, and subsequently reflect it on other people. This is why my best advice for girls who want to start their careers in the world of pageants or modeling is to first work on their inner self, and nurture their mind and soul to be stronger in the face of adversity.

Could you share your plans? What projects are you working on?
As an entrepreneur, I am very proud to say that I own my first business in my home country. It is a beautiful nail spa called Gabriela’s Nails and it has received great feedback from the women of Paraguay. The good news is that we are going global and growing as a brand as we prepare to open a new branch in Ibiza this summer.

Why did you choose Spain for your business?
Spain has welcomed me with open arms and it’s a country that has given me so much joy, satisfaction, new friends, and a second home. As you know, I have been living in Ibiza for quite some time now and it’s the perfect place for me to reconnect after coming back from my trips, staying close to the sea, my house, and the warmth of my home.
