Kateryna Akulenko, a rhythmic gymnast of international renown from Ukraine, has never looked for shortcuts and easy options, putting her heart and best efforts into honing her skills. She now promotes the unique gymnastic aesthetic through creative photoshoots and inspirational social media presence. She has told us about her choice of the way, ambitions for the future, and support of the next generation of athletes
Kateryna, you have been doing gymnastics since childhood. Why, with your charming looks, you chose a career in sports rather than becoming an actress or a model?
As a young woman who has been involved in rhythmic gymnastics since the tender age of 4, I have always been captivated by the beauty and grace of this sport. While I appreciate the compliments on my looks, my decision to pursue a career in sports over acting or modeling stems from my deep passion for rhythmic gymnastics. It allows me to express myself artistically and challenge my physical abilities in a unique way. I believe that true success comes from following one’s true passion, and for me, that passion has always been gymnastics.
What advice would you give to young sportswomen who surely consider you to be their idol?
To all the young sportswomen who see me as their idol, I would advise them to embrace their dreams wholeheartedly. Passion and dedication are key ingredients for success in any field, including sports. Set ambitious goals, work tirelessly towards them, and always believe in your own abilities. Surround yourself with a supportive network of coaches, mentors, and teammates who inspire and motivate you. Remember, success is not solely measured by achievements, but also by the journey and the lessons learned along the way.

Are you currently living away from your homeland? What do you do, what are your plans for the future?
Yes, I am currently living in London, embracing new experiences and opportunities in this vibrant city. Being independent has always been important to me, and at the young age of 20, I made the decision to live on my own, taking responsibility for my own life and not being a burden to my parents. In terms of my future plans, I aim to continue honing my skills in rhythmic gymnastics, competing at the highest level, and inspiring young athletes. I also aspire to contribute to the sport through coaching and mentoring, helping the next generation of gymnasts reach their full potential.
I believe that true success comes from following one’s true passion, and for me, that passion has always been gymnastics

Thank you for appreciating my Instagram page and the unique aspects it brings to showcasing my gymnastic skills. Through my photos, I strive to capture the artistry and elegance of rhythmic gymnastics while also sharing glimpses of my personality. One memorable shoot that stood out to me was a collaboration with a talented fashion photographer. We created a series of images that combined elements of fashion and athleticism, showcasing the grace and strength that define rhythmic gymnastics. It was a wonderful opportunity to express my passion for both sports and style, resulting in a collection of captivating and dynamic photographs.

Do you have your own motto or principle that guides you in making difficult decisions?
I firmly believe in the power of mindset and the law of attraction. Like Bob Proctor, whose teachings I admire, I practice the principles of positive thinking and the law of attraction in my daily life. One principle that guides me in making difficult decisions is to trust my intuition and follow my heart. I believe that aligning my actions with my true passion and purpose will lead me to the right path. Additionally, I value perseverance, resilience, and embracing challenges as opportunities for growth. My motto is to never give up and to always strive for excellence, both in and out of the gym.
