A Bosnian-born model Melina Čatak has been drawn to the spotlight since childhood and got noticed in her first days at a modeling school. She has already worked with world-famous brands and is constantly thinking of new horizons to conquer. But what are her secrets to success?

Melina, you were born in Sarajevo. Tell us about yourself and your first experience in modeling.
Yes, I was born in Bosnia in the city of Sarajevo and I like to visit that city whenever I have the chance! For many years I have lived in Germany in Munich. My first beginnings are related to Sarajevo, where I worked at the Fashion Week. Then, I did modeling as a hobby. And as soon as I came of age abroad, I started modeling professionally and took that calling much more seriously.

What projects are particularly proud of?
I’ve done numerous campaigns and fashion shows, but my favorite one to date is the Alberta Ferretti show because it is always fun and different. I am also proud of numerous shoots: Marc Jacobs, Shiseido, Sherri Hill, Intimissimi, Max Factor, and many others.

The modeling business is a seriously competitive environment. What individual traits help you stand out?
I hear this question often. There is no formula that guarantees success. I believe that all successful models have incredible charisma, determination and work habits, in addition to those physical predispositions. I also think that respect for everyone is extremely important, when you value yourself and others, they will value you in the industry!

What qualities of yours do you have to work on to achieve even greater results?
I am constantly working on myself because I still want to achieve a lot as a model. I will let my actions speak for me.

You live in Germany and have worked in many cities in Europe and South Korea. What are the top 5 countries that are comfortable for living and working in modeling?
So far, all the destinations I’ve been to have delighted me. However, I would single out Western Europe. France, Italy, Spain, and Germany.
